The award can be used for a “campership” applied to tuition and fees at a science, technology, engineering, or math-related (STEM) summer camp or a traditional scholarship applied to freshman year in a post secondary school. The schools of the winning students will also receive matching grants of $1,000 to be used for math-related programs.
Submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, time commitment, the use of math equations to demonstrate how math is important in the student’s hobby/sport/subject/activity, and how well the question is answered.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have legal residence, and must provide verification of their submission by a math professional who knows the applicant and can attest that the submission is the applicant’s original work.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
