Bonner Scholars Program

Bonner Scholars Program Bonner Scholars Program was founded in 1990 to help fund college education for students interested in community service and development. Although open to all students, the program specifically targets students with a significant amount of financial need.

This service-based scholarship program works with 24 different campuses and universities, helping more than 1,500 students each year who might not otherwise be able to afford college. The goal of its founder, Bertram F. Bonner, a Princeton, New Jersey land developer and investor, was to establish a scholarship that would help students, colleges and communities.

To be eligible to apply, students must maintain a grade point average of 2.5, fulfill at least ten hours of weekly service and leadership activities, work in community service for two summers and participate in special activities and annual retreats. Financial need must be established by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The scholarship is renewable each year, providing the student continues to meet the requirements.

Interested students should review the list of participating colleges for campus-specific program details and application deadlines.

The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount is usually $2,500.
