The Flinn Scholars Program is one of the most competitive scholarships in the United States, offering a superior package that includes a stipend from one of three Arizona universities - Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University or University of Arizona - toward tuition and fees.

In addition, the program pays over $54,000 for a three-week Central Europe summer seminar plus an international study-travel program. Due to the prestigious nature of this scholarship, application requirements and expectations are high.

To qualify for a Flinn Scholars Program scholarship, students must be in the top five percent of their graduating class, have a grade point average of 3.5 or above, achieve a minimum ACT score of 29 or SAT score of 1300, demonstrate outstanding extracurricular activities, and be a U.S. citizen and resident of Arizona for the last two years. Students are also evaluated on community involvement, communication skills and leadership characteristics.

Funding comes from the Flinn Foundation, established in 1965, by a leading Arizona cardiologist, Robert Flinn. Their is to improve the quality of life in Arizona to benefit future generations. In addition to the Flinn Scholars Program, the Foundation supports bioscience advancement, and arts and culture initiatives in Arizona.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $54,000.
