Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program

Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program
Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program is designed to help high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives attend college and is open to students in all 50 states, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

This need-based scholarship provides assistance to students with critical financial need, with family incomes not exceeding $50,000 per year. Students must be high school seniors planning to graduate and attend college full-time in the fall.

Eligible students must pursue a bachelor degree program; however, they may begin at a two-year school and then transfer to a four-year college or university. Students must also maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or above and demonstrate an interest in using their degree to help others.

The Horatio Alger Association was established in 1947 and named after Horatio Alger Jr., a 19th century author who wrote about overcoming adversity. The scholarship encourages students to pursue their educational goals and make their dreams come true. Over 100 scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $20,000.
