Scholarships are categorized by college major, scholarships for specific universities, merit scholarships, scholarships for high school seniors at specific high schools, community service scholarships for students active in community volunteer work, and specific population scholarships. Each scholarship has its own criteria for applying. Many have required grade point averages as well as minimum SAT scores. Some are based on financial need and others are merit-based.

Approximately 60 awards are given each year by The CollegeBound Foundation, a non-profit organization created in 1988 by a group of business and community leaders in Baltimore, Maryland. Their mission is to help city students have the opportunity to attend college and become future leaders of the Baltimore community.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $3,000.
