LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program

LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program
LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program offers scholarship opportunities for high school students planning to attend college and who have lost a parent or legal guardian. Students between the ages of 17 and 24 who live in the U.S., District of Columbia or Puerto Rico may apply.

Applicants must complete an essay or produce a video describing the impact on their lives resulting from the death of a parent. Scholarships are awarded to first, second and third place winners in both the essay and the video categories. In addition, one grand prize winner will be selected.

The scholarships are funded by the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE). The non-profit organization provides education to families and businesses on insurance needs, including life, disability, long-term care and health insurance. The company was founded in 1994 and is supported by over 140 insurance and financial organizations.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students whose families and lives have been affected emotionally and financially through the loss of a parent. Each year, the organization gives over $125,000 in college scholarships to students who have suffered the loss of a parent.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000 - $15,000.
