The Caterpillar and Friends Scholarship Award
The Caterpillar and Friends Scholarship Award is given to first-time freshman college students, or transfers, attending Northern Illinois University (NIU) and majoring in engineering. Students must be enrolled in the College of Engineering & Engineering Technology (CEET).

Acceptable majors can include Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Technology. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 and an ACT score of 25 or above. They must be enrolled full-time at NIU, carrying at least 12 credit hours per semester.

Students accepting the scholarship must agree to participate in no more than five hours per week of community service as part of the CEET Ambassadors Club. The organization is dedicated to helping with college events and tours, as well as high school events in the community.

The scholarship is sponsored by Caterpillar, a world producer of farming and construction equipment since 1883.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in SEPTEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
