Safe Driving Scholarships

Safe Driving Scholarships
Safe Driving Scholarships are awarded to students who are passionate about safe driving. The essay contest for this scholarship is open to high school students and older who want to help stop texting and driving.

The scholarship contest is open to everyone age 25 and younger who lives in the U.S. and is a legal resident. Students have two ways of entering the competition. 1) Submit the cell phone numbers of six friends and tell them about the dangers of texting and driving, or 2) sign up to receive a pair of thumb socks, then submit a picture of the person applying and one friend wearing the thumb socks.

Applicants may enter both ways to increase their chances of winning one of four scholarships. The scholarship contest is designed to share texting-and-driving statistics with more youth in an effort to encourage safe driving practices.

The scholarships are sponsored by DoSomething.org, a non-profit organization that supports projects for youth and social change. Their causes include bullying, animal cruelty, homelessness, cancer and safe driving.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in AUGUST of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
