Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship
The Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship is open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors who are African-American. Both men and women who meet the academic guidelines may apply.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be African-American undergraduate students with a grade point average of 2.75 or above. The scholarship is renewable each year as long as the student continues to meet the qualifications. Applicants must be currently attending a U.S. accredited college or university and have a deep concern for their community and the Black family.

Applicants are chosen based on their academic excellence and their demonstrated interest and participation in school and community activities. In addition to a completed application, students will be asked to complete a 300-500 word essay to demonstrate their communication skills.

The scholarship is offered by the National Hook-Up of Black Women (NHBW), Inc., formed in 1974 to establish communications between women’s organizations and individuals to support the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative efforts and serve as a voice for the needs of Back women and families everywhere. The organization is based in Chicago, Illinois.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
