To qualify, students must be nominated by their school or a community organization. Students nominated will have strong academic records and leadership skills demonstrated through volunteer work in their communities or high schools. Ten students are selected each year to become Posse Scholars.
The program includes 51 top colleges and universities across the country who are included in the scholarship program. Through the participation of these partnering institutions, $670 million in leadership scholarships have been awarded to Posse Scholars. In addition to scholarships, Posse Scholars also receive pre-college career training.
The scholarships are offered through the Posse Foundation, a non-profit organization founded inn 1989 that rewards outstanding students who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse helps thousands of talented and diverse students reach their highest potential in both their professional and personal lives.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount VARIES.
