Educate It Forward ELL Hispanic Heritage Scholarship
Educate It Forward ELL Hispanic Heritage Scholarship is open to high school seniors of Hispanic or Latino descent. Eligible students must be nominated by a English Language Learner (ELL) teacher.

Recipients must be outstanding students who are not only academic achievers but also active contributors to their communities. Students of Hispanic or Latino descent must be nominated by a teacher who is able to acknowledge their eligibility.

To apply, students must have a nominating teacher submit an application along with a format letter of recommendation on school letterhead and a letter of recommendation from a teacher who has actually taught the students.

The scholarship is offered by Mirtalita & Johnny, a Long Island, New York couple whose goal is to award four scholarships each year to deserving Hispanic students. Mirtalita is a high school Spanish and Italian teacher and Johnny is a Navy Veteran and a computer engineer. The scholarship was started at the high school where Mirtalita works. The couple is dedicated to providing scholarships for Hispanic students who share their value of education.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
