Boys and Girls Clubs "Youth of the Year" Scholarship

Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Scholarship
The Boys and Girls Clubs "Youth of the Year" Scholarship is awarded each year to Boys and Girls Clubs of America members. Eligible youth must be between the ages of 14 to 18.

Winners are chosen at the local club level, state level, regional level and one national winner is selected. Local club winners are chosen as Youth of the Month winners. From these winners, one youth each is selected as Youth of the Year and goes on to compete at the state level. State winners each receive a scholarship and go on to participate at the regional level. Five regional winners each receive a scholarship and compete on the national level. One student will be chosen at the national level.

The winner at the national level receives a scholarship and recognition as the National Youth of the Year. The award is given to the student by the President of the United States.

Youth have been recognized every year since 1947 for their academic and leadership qualities as well as personal growth and character by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The organization began in 1860 in Connecticut and by 1906 had formed 53 member organizations. The organization received a U.S. Congressional Charter in 1956. In addition to helping youth become responsible citizens, the organization provides opportunities for educational advancement through scholarships and other programs.

The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $50,000.
