The scholarships are for undergraduate work and are not intended to cover costs for veterinary school. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.75 or above and be enrolled full-time in an accredited college, junior college, university, trade, or business school. They must be pursuing careers that focus on improving the lives of pets and their families.
Graduating high school students through college seniors may apply for the scholarship. Up to 40 scholarships are awarded each year. Recipients may reapply each year up to four years for the scholarship. Students may apply by submitting a completed application and a 250-word essay, plus other additional documents.
The scholarship is offered through the Campbell Family Foundation and administered by the Banfield Charitable Trust. The Banfield Charitable Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income families, seniors, the disabled, and homeless people keep their pets. They offer programs and other support to help pet owners meet the needs of their pets.
