The purpose of the scholarship is to educate other about how much water Americans use each year just to take showers -- more than a TRILLION gallons of water. According to sponsor DoSomething.org, this is enough water to meet the needs of people living in both New York and New Jersey.
Students can enter the competition by making a five-minute playlist with the theme of taking shorter showers to save water. By sending in the playlist and a photo, each applicant will be entered for a chance to win a scholarship. Students can enter more than once to increase their chances. No grade point average minimum is required.
The scholarship challenge is sponsored by DoSomething.org, one of the largest online organizations of young people supporting social change. The organization consists of 3.4 million members who create social campaigns to bring about positive change, including poverty, violence, the environment, and much more.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $4,000.
