The Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology (DFBSST) Scholarship is open to African-American undergraduate students who enroll in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The scholarship can be renewed annually for up to four years.

Applicants must be African American students who plan to enroll or are already enrolled at one of the participating predominantly Black colleges or universities and who are majoring in a technical field of study, such as science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Applicants are evaluated first on academic achievement, career goals and extracurricular activities, recommendations from teachers, and financial need.

All students applying must be full-time students, and they must maintain their academic standing in order to renew their scholarship annually for up to 4 years of college. Students may apply by requesting an application from one of the 20 participating colleges.

The Development Fund For Black Students in Science and Technology is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. who helps black students achieve their career goals in technical fields. Since its beginning, the organization has awarded over $383,000 in scholarships to 140 students pursuing an education in science and technology.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JUNE of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
