This scholarship is based on a Service to Children requirement. Candidates who apply must agree to commit 50 hours of volunteer work tutoring children in grades K-8th grade. The scholarship is renewable; each year the applicant re-applies, they must commit to 50 volunteer hours for each year they receive the grant.
In return for a grant, recipients may attend any accredited post-secondary educational institution in Minnesota, including state and private four-year universities, two-year community and technical colleges, and vocational schools. Qualifying students may apply online by returning a completed application, school transcript of grades, two letters of recommendation, and the completion of a 500-word essay.
The grant is offered through The Page Education Foundation, a Minneapolis-based non-profit organization started in 1988 by former NFL football player Alan Page. The Page Education Foundation promotes academic achievement among youth of color in Minnesota and helps them achieve their academic goals and become positive contributors in their communities.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $2,500.
