Eligible students must be attending schools in the following Georgia counties: Newton, Walton, Morgan, Jasper, Rockdale, DeKalb, Henry, and Butts County. A total of 14 scholarships are awarded each year to students planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Scholarships are awarded based on each student's extracurricular activities, financial need, academic achievement, letters of recommendation and an autobiographical essay. Applications are judged by educators, coaches and scholastic or community leaders. Scholarships are not renewable.
Snapping Shoals EMC is a non-profit, consumer-owned cooperative that provides electric service to 95,000 consumers in an eight-county area in southeast Atlanta, Georgia. The scholarship was created in 2007 to recognize the accomplishments of high school students throughout the Snapping Shoals EMC serving area who are able to maintain an excellent academic record along with involvement in extracurricular activities .
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
