Candidates include high school seniors, students currently attending community colleges, vocational/ trade schools, undergraduate, students pursuing a Master in Public Health (MPH), and students in Medical and/or Dentistry schools. A GPA of 2.5 or above is required.
Applicants can be working towards an Associate Degree in Nursing with the goal to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse or license Practical Nurse; a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree to become a Registered Nurse (RN); or students attending a Medical School, School of Dentistry, Pharmaceutical School, Master Degree Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
All students applying must demonstrate financial need. They also need to be actively involved in their communities. The scholarship is offered by the Salvadoran American Leadership & Educational Fund (SALEF), a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, whose mission is to support the educational, economic and political advancement of Latino and Salvadoran citizens in the U.S.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JULY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,500.
