The Second Chance College Scholarships Contest is open to all U.S. citizens and others legally residing in the U.S. who have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Applicants must intend to enroll, or are already enrolled, in a college, university, or trade school.

There are no required grade point average minimums, and the scholarship is not based on financial need. Five scholarships are awarded each year. Applicants must enter online and complete an entry application form with all the required information.

Scholarship funds are sent directly to the applicant's chosen educational institution. The scholarship money may be used for tuition and books.

The Second Chance College Scholarships are offered by The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA). The organization is a non-profit, international association representing fire sprinkler contractors. It's purpose is to support the educational advancement of its members and to promote the use of automatic fire sprinkler systems.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in AUGUST of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
