Society of Women Engineers Golden Gate Section (SWE-GGS) Scholarship is offered to qualified young Bay Area women graduating from high school and planning to attend college to pursue degrees in engineering and other related degrees.

Candidates must be females who have an excellent academic record and demonstrate financial need. They must also reside or attend school in the boundaries of the Golden Gate Section, including San Francisco, Marin, Napa, Sonoma, San Mateo counties and parts of Contra Costa and Alameda counties. They must be graduating seniors planning to attend a four-year college or university and majoring in engineering or computer science.

To apply, eligible candidates may complete an application and include two letters of reference from teachers, counselors, or employers. Also required is an essay and a letter that describes work experience, volunteer efforts, and extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership qualities.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a non-profit educational and service organization that helps women succeed and advance in the field of engineering. It was founded in 1950 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $18,000.
