The Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship

The Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship
The Richard and Elizabeth Dean Scholarship is open to graduating high school students. The scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive years and is based on academic merit.

Applicants must be graduating high school students with an initial GPA of 4.0, with renewal contingent upon maintenance of a GPA of 3.25. All applicants must be citizens of the United States and must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States.

Two scholarships are awarded every year. Awards are based on academic merit, commitment to the field of study and financial need. DAR chapter sponsorship is not required.

The scholarship is awarded through the Daughters Of The American Revolution (DAR), a membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in the United States' struggle for independence. The non-profit group was founded in 1890 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The organization works to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $20,000.
