Applicants must reside within the five boroughs of New York City, be a current high school senior, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Business/Finance are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply, candidates will need to submit an application, along with two completed essays, a resume, one letter of recommendation, an official grade transcript and a photo. Winners are notified in mid-February and recognized in March at the Annual bai Gala.
The scholarship is sponsored by New York City’s YMCA. Founded in 1852, the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services, including scholarships. An average of 50 scholarships are awarded every year to deserving NYC high school seniors.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
