AREMA Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships
The AREMA Educational Foundation provides scholarships to engineering students who are specializing in the railway industry and supports other educational and training endeavors that help to ensure the future of the profession.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited four or five-year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate/graduate degree program.

Applicants must also have an interest in railway engineering, must have at least a 2.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale, and must be available for interview by the AREMA Scholarship Committee.

The criteria generally apply to all of the several available scholarships. A scholarship review committee will determine which scholarship/s the candidate suits best according to the accomplished application form.

The requirements for the online form includes a below-350-word personal statement stating the applicant's desire for the AREMA Educational Foundation Scholarship and the areas of interest regarding railroading, another below-350-word essay about the history of recent work experience, current GPA, and a contact information for two references.

The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, is a railway industry group that publishes recommended practices for the design, construction, and maintenance of railway infrastructure. Through the organization's educational foundation formed in 2000, they have promoted educational activities related to railway engineering.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 to $10,000.
