Jethro Pugh-Two Podners Scholarship Program offers college scholarships to students in their freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year of college who reside in the state of Texas.Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be attending a UNCF four-year college or university in Texas. They must also live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Demonstrated financial need is required.
The scholarship is sponsored by Jethro Pugh, who played for the Dallas Cowboys for 14 seasons from 1965 to 1978, winning two Super Bowls and four NFC championships. Those receiving scholarships will be honored at the annual Jethro Pugh / Two Podners Scholarship Invitational Golf Tournament. Two Podners Bar-B-Q and Seafood Restaurant in Dallas is also providing support for the scholarship.
The annual gold tournament, headlined by Jethro Pugh, has raised over $600,000 in scholarship money for students attending UNCF colleges and universities in Texas. The scholarship is renewable for each year up to four years of college.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
