Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship
Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship is open to all high school seniors attending a high school in Wake County, North Carolina. Applicants must attend a college or university in North Carolina.

Students applying must be in the upper 25 percent of their class and seniors who are planning to attend a four-year college or university in North Carolina. One winner will be selected to receive the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh’s Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship. They will then go on to compete at the District VI scholarship competition. District winners will finally compete for the four-year State Scholarship.
To apply, students must submit a completed application, along with two letters of recommendation, a transcript of grades and their college entrance exam scores. In addition, applications will be asked to include a cover letter that explains their education and career goals and reason why they should receive a scholarship.

The scholarship is named after Sallie Southall Cotten, founder of the North Carolina Federation of Women’s Clubs. It is sponsored by the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of young women of Raleigh and to helping them improve the lives of others through community service.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,500 - $24,000.
