The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Scholarship Award
The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) Scholarship Award awards outstanding students from developing countries pursuing master’s degree studies in the fields of Development or Energy Studies. Students who have completed or are near completion of their undergraduate degree may apply.

Eligible fields of study include economics of development (poverty reduction, energy and sustainable development), environment (desertification), or other science and technology related fields. Applicants must be between the ages of 23-32 and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Candidates must be full-time students at an accredited college/university.

Students may apply online by completing an application. Other documentation required includes proof of undergraduate degree and language proficiency, two letters of recommendation, grade transcripts, and completion of a 500-word essay that explains the student's reason for applying for the scholarship, their educational goals, and how they will utilize their Master's degree studies to help develop their home country.

The OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) was established in 1976 to help stimulate economic growth and alleviate poverty in disadvantaged regions of the world. They are headquartered in Austria. The organization awards four scholarships to highly-motivated students to help with the cost of graduate degree studies at any recognized college or university in the world.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $50,000.
