Diabetes Scholars Foundation Scholarships

Diabetes Scholars Foundation ScholarshipsDiabetes Scholars Foundation scholarships are awarded to students with high academic achievement who have Type 1 diabetes. The Foundation has given more than $500,000 in college scholarships during the past five years.

The Foundation was founded in 2004 by a group of parents whose children had Type 1 diabetes. In addition to high academics, the Foundation seeks students who are examples of successfully managing their diabetes by being active in community diabetes events and high school extracurricular activities.

Through donations from corporations and private donors, Diabetes Scholars Foundation changes the lives of many students who might not otherwise be able to attend college. It is the only foundation that gives college scholarships strictly to United States students with Type 1 diabetes.

Approximately 18 scholarships, ranging from $1,000 - $5,000, are available. They include scholarships for students residing in Colorado and Ohio, students pursuing degrees in health care, political science, science, business, psychology, social work and athletics, and students pursuing a degree in Arts - all of whom have Type 1 diabetes.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $5,000.
