Foresters Competitive Scholarship Program

Foresters Competitive Scholarship Program is open to students in the U.S. and Canada who are either members or whose parents are members of Foresters, an international life insurance provider. Scholarship money can be used to pay for education at trade schools, community colleges and universities.

Students must have a minimum grade point average of 2.7 in order to apply. In addition, they must be active in their communities with a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer work. Scholarships are up to $8,000 each for students in the U.S. and Canada.

Foresters has awarded 350 tuition scholarships every year for almost 30 years totaling more than $30 million in renewable scholarships to academically outstanding students who also demonstrate leadership qualities.

In addition to the Foresters Competitive Scholarship Program, five Ken Peterson Award for Community Leadership scholarships are given to students who have overcome great adversity and also demonstrated leadership capabilities. The scholarships are up to $11,000 each with $5,000 given the first year and $2,000 per year for the remaining three years.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $8,000.
