Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards, in partnership with United Negro College Fund (UNCF), provides college scholarships to African American high school students pursuing a degree in a life or physical science area.
The scholarship awards are up to $30,000 with $25,000 paying for tuition, room and board and other fees and a summer research internship stipend of at least $5,000. Students will work with a Merck scientist and participate in two 10-12 week summer internships during the summers following the junior year and year of graduation.
Eligible students must be African American, enrolled full-time in a U.S. college or university pursuing a four-year degree in biological, chemical or engineering science and research. They also must have a grade point average of 3.3 or above.
Merck is a world leader in pharmaceutical products and services. United Negro College Fund enables more than 60,000 students annually attend college through donations from private donors, corporations and foundations.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $30,000.
