ARC of Washington Trust Fund Stipend Program is a student stipend program for graduate students interested in developmental disabilities. Students must be attending college in the states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska or Idaho.
The stipends can be used for tuition, books and general living expenses. It is a one-time award (not renewable) that can be used in the student's junior, senior, graduate or postgraduate year of college. It is available to U.S. citizens only.
The trust fund awards stipends each year to students who want to pursue a career as researchers, teachers or practitioners in the field of developmental disabilities. Along with an application, students must submit at least two recommendations from faculty members, proof of grades, and an explanation of their career goals in the area of developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Washington State is a non-profit organization that has been active in supporting the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities for 75 years. In addition to the Stipend Program, they offer services such as special education, employment and residential supports, health care, transportation and more.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
