Duke Energy Scholars Program

Duke Energy Scholars Program
Duke Energy Scholars Program offers scholarships for children or retirees of Duke Energy and companies. The scholarship is renewable and can be used in the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior year of undergraduate college.

The scholarships are based on academic merit, demonstrated financial need and contribution to the community through volunteer work. Eligible students may choose to attend either a two-year technical school or community college, or a four-year accredited college or university. Schools selected must be located within the U.S. or Canada. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.

Fifteen scholarships are awarded each year. In addition, five additional students receive a one-time only scholarship. They are considered alternatives, meaning if any of the fifteen chosen scholars do not accept their scholarship, the alternative scholars will have an opportunity for a full, renewable scholarship.

The scholarships are funded by the Duke Energy Foundation, a non-profit organization of Duke Energy that is dedicated to providing financial support to children of employees and also grants to charitable organizations that improve the quality of life in communities served by Duke Energy.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $5,000.
