NRA Youth Educational Summit Scholarships

NRA Youth Educational Summit Scholarships
NRA Youth Educational Summit (YES) Scholarships are awarded to students planning to enroll in college and who attend the National Rifle Association (NRA) Youth Education Summit in Washington, D.C. The summit is a week-long event where students learn more about the government and the constitution of the United States.

Forty-five students are chosen each year to participate in the Youth Education Summit and receive scholarships. To be eligible, students must enroll in either a two-year or four-year technical school or college and can attend part-time or full-time. A grade point average of 3.0 or above is required. Applicants must also submit an essay on the Second Amendment.

At the summit, students will have an opportunity to meet government leaders from Capitol Hill, tour Washington D.C.'s historic sites, visit the National Firearms Museum and meet speakers from NRA. The purpose of the summit is to increase students' knowledge of and encourage involvement in the government and civic activities.

The scholarship is funded by the National Rifle Association Foundation, the non-profit organization of the NRA which provides funding to support the heritage of shooting and hunting. The foundation has awarded over $385,000 in scholarships since its beginning in 1996. More than 675 students have attended the Youth Education Summit and received college scholarships.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $10,000.
