Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) Award (Body By Milk Scholarship) is available to high school seniors who have a strong interest in sports and athletics and plan to attend full-time a four-year college or university. The scholarship is a one time award to be used in the freshman year of college and is not renewable.
Students enter the scholarship competition by writing a 75-word essay on the benefits they have experienced by drinking milk and how it has affected their sports training and been an important part of their life. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership qualities and an interest in community service.
The scholarships are awarded each year through the Sammy Award Program. Winners receive not only a college scholarship but also a weekend at Disney World and their picture in a milk mustache ad in USA Today magazine.
Sammy Scholarship Program is sponsored by America’s Milk Processors and USA Today.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be high school seniors and have a grade point average of at least 3.2. They must also be active in school sports.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $7,500.
