The CEC Student Awards and Scholarships
The CEC Student Awards and Scholarships is sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children, giving both recognition awards and scholarships to college students who have demonstrated a commitment to working with children who have disabilities and with gifted children.

Scholarships include one undergraduate and one graduate CEC scholarship per year, and one Kayte M. Fearn CEC Ethnic Diversity Scholarship per year. Awards include the Susan Phillips Gorin Award for CEC members who are involved with the CEC on a professional basis and work in special education, and one undergraduate as well as one graduate Outstanding CEC Student Member of the Year Award for student members of CEC.

All students applying must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college or university and have a grade point average of 3.0. Eligible students must be pursuing a career in special education.

The Council for Exceptional Children is located in Arlington, Virginia and its purpose is to provide support for professionals who work with children with disabilities and gifted students. Disabilities can include autism, attention deficit disorder, physical disabilities, learning disorders, and developmental disabilities. Gifted students are those who have outstanding abilities and are capable of high academic performance.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in OCTOBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
