Applicants may choose to attend either a two-year community college or four-year accredited college or university. To apply, students must submit a 500-word essay explaining the importance of community service and what they have learned by participating in community service activities. Students must be from the state of Indiana.
The scholarship is sponsored by the Pacers Foundation with support from Miller Lite. Both organizations have teamed up to support education for youth and encourage youth to get involved and make a difference in their communities.
The organizations are also actively involved in educating youth about the dangers in underage drinking. The Miller Brewing Company has developed a website addressing the issue of underage drinking and has also interacted with parents, colleges and law enforcement to reduce underage drinking through education.
The scholarship is not renewable and must be used in the freshman year of college. It is available to U.S. citizens only.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $2,000.
