RTDNA Scholarships offer several scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students pursuing careers in radio and television news. Eligible students must be currently enrolled in college and have at least one more year of college remaining. Two scholarships are also offered for graduate students.
Undergraduate scholarships include the Ed Bradley Scholarship, the Carole Simpson Scholarship, the Pete Wilson Journalism Scholarship, the Presidents Scholarship, the Lou and Carol Prato Sports Reporting Scholarship, the George Foreman Tribute to Lyndon B. Johnson Scholarship, and the Mike Reynolds Journalism Scholarship.
Scholarships for graduates include the Abe Schechter Graduate Scholarship and the Pete Wilson Scholarship. Each scholarship varies in amount. Some are for minority students only. All scholarships are awarded one time only and not renewable and are available to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens.
The scholarships are sponsored by the Radio Television Digital News Foundation (RTDNF), the non-profit, educational branch of the Radio Television Digital News Association which was founded in 1946 for the purpose of supporting professionals in the news industry. It is the largest member-based professional organization serving the news and journalism industry and setting high standards for news research and reporting.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MAY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $10,000.
