Doodle 4 Google Scholarship Competition

Doodle 4 Google Scholarship Competition
Doodle 4 Google Scholarship Competition is open for all students through grade 12 who are interested in submitting an artistic idea for a Google homepage logo. The national winner as well as four national finalists will receive college scholarships.

Students may enter one of five groups according to their age. From fifty finalists in each state, ten from each state will go on to compete at the national level. From this group, five national finalists will be chosen. One national winner will be selected. The national winner receives a scholarship to the college of their choice, and their school will receive a grant to be used for a computer lab or technology program. Each of the four national finalists will also receive a college scholarship plus other prizes.

Students are given a theme for their doodles. Drawings will be judged on how much creativity was demonstrated in incorporating the Google logo with the theme within each grade group. A panel of judges will help with the judging and the public also has the opportunity to judge online.

The competition is sponsored by Google, one of the largest corporations offering Internet search services and Internet-related products. Doodles have been a part of the homepage Google logo since 1998. Decorating the logo has been an ongoing activity to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and other important events. The doodle scholarship competition represents a way for the company to reward talented young artists as they share their own imagination on the Google homepage.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in MARCH of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000 - $30,000.
