Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship is open to female undergraduate seniors or female students enrolled in a graduate program and studying Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Students must attend college full-time and have a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Award recipients will receive a scholarship and an opportunity to attend the Google Scholars' Retreat in Mountain View, California where they will participate in workshops with other computer science students for three days.

The scholarship was established by Google in the memory of Dr.Anita Borg to encourage more women to enter the field of computing and technology. Dr. Borg received her Ph.D. in computer science from the Courant Institute at New York University in 1981 and went on to establish an impressive career in computer technology. She was active in removing barriers that prevented women and minorities from entering careers in technology. In 1997 she founded the Institute for Women and Technology that continues to support women technology leaders.

Google is one of the largest providers of search engine tools and other technology products like Gmail and Google Maps for consumers and cloud computing tools for businesses. The technology giant was established in 1998 and is headquartered in Mountain View, California.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in DECEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
