Greenhouse Scholars Program

Greenhouse Scholars ProgramGreenhouse Scholars Program is a scholarship available to high school seniors in the states of Colorado and Illinois who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university.

Required grade point average is 3.5 or above. In addition, students must be leaders and contributors in their communities. Students must also demonstrate financial need. To be eligible, total household income cannot exceed $70,000 per year.

Greenhouse Scholars Program was established in 2005 by Greenhouse Partners, a marketing and branding company located in Boulder, Colorado. The company conducted research on college students and discovered that only 11 percent from low-income families who were the first to attend college actually graduated from college within six years. The scholarship program was developed to help students in need attend and graduate from college.

In addition to the scholarship, students invited to join the program receive mentoring to help them choose careers. Mentors work with students throughout college, providing them with networking connections and peer advisory groups. They also have internship opportunities.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JANUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $5,000.
