
The competition is open for students who have attended a U.S. or Canadian college or university full-time for at least one year prior to entering. Projects can consist of teams of up to four people. Entries must demonstrate value to society and must be workable projects.
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Fields of study that work well with this competition include science, biology, chemical engineering, health and medical sciences, metallurgy, and other applied sciences.
The competition is offered by Invent Now, a non-profit organization located in North Canton, Ohio, whose endowment funds enables them to support exploration in invention, science, engineering, technology, and other creative endeavors that recognize the contributions of creative inventors from around the world. The Collegiate Inventors Competition is made possible through sponsorships by the Abbott Fund, the Kauffman Foundation, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in JUNE of each year, and the award amount is usually $10,000.
