Great Minds in STEM Scholars Program offers scholarships for Hispanic college students majoring in science, technology, engineering and math. Students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university as either an undergraduate or graduate student.
Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above and be enrolled in a science, technology, engineering or math program. Applicants must also be Hispanic and demonstrate that they are actively supporting activities and programs in the Hispanic community. Those who are chosen to receive scholarships will be honored at the annual HENAAC Conference.
The Great Minds in STEM Scholars Program began in 2000 and has awarded $1.7 million to 874 outstanding students. The organization was formed in 1989 and was first called HENAAC, changing its name in 2009 to Great Minds in STEM to reflect the mission of the organization to provide more opportunities for students in underserved communities to pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields.
Students who receive a scholarship are required to attend the annual conference; all travel expenses will be complimentary.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $500 to $10,000.
