In 1998, Morgan Freeman, award-winning actor and director, established the Morgan Freeman Endowment for Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University. Morgan Freeman was raised in Mississippi and established the scholarship to help outstanding Mississippi students to be able to fulfill their careers in veterinary medicine.
The college aggressively recruits underrepresented minority students. Although the scholarship is open to all students, minority students from Mississippi who might otherwise not be able to attend the College of Veterinarian Medicine are encouraged to apply.
Students must have excellent academic records, demonstrate financial need, and exhibit leadership skills with extracurricular activities and community participation. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years in veterinarian school.
The deadline for this scholarship VARIES each year, and the award amount VARIES.
