The National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) First-Time Freshman Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who will be attending college for the first time. The scholarship is for students pursuing careers in the restaurant and food service industry.

Qualifying students must be planning to enroll or currently be enrolled at an accredited college or university, taking at least 9 hours of course work. Students who have received their high school diploma through a GED program may also apply if they meet the requirements.

All students applying must write two essays which explain why they chose a career in the restaurant industry and what opportunities they expect in their chosen career.

NRAEF has awarded $14 million in scholarships to deserving students since 1997.
