Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest is an opportunity for photographers age 18 and older to submit their best photography work and win cash awards. Photographers may submit up to 35 photographs, 7 in each of five photo categories.
Winning entries include a grand prize winner, one winner in each of the five photo categories, a Reader's Choice award, and one winning entry of a photo taken with a mobile device. A total of eight awards will be given.
From all entries, 50 finalists will be selected, and their photos will be published on the Smithsonian Magazine web site. The final 8 winners will be selected from all finalists, including one readers' choice winner chosen by online readers.
The Smithsonian Magazine has been awarding photographers in the Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest since 2002. Since its beginning, photographers have submitted over 290,000 photographs from more than 112 countries and shared their unique perspectives on nature, people, travel, and more.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in NOVEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $500 - $2,500.
