Students must be enrolled full-time in either a two- or four-year program at a U.S. accredited college, university or technical school and working to achieve a degree. They must have a grade point average of 2.0 or above to apply. Students applying must be no more than 25 years old. Parents of eligible children must be employed at the company at least one year.
The scholarship is for undergraduate students only. Recipients may re-apply for the program each year up to four years. To apply, students need to submit a completed application and a current transcript. Each year, up to 20 scholarships are awarded to children of employees, and up to 40 scholarships are given to customers.
The scholarship program has been sponsored by Rent-A-Center since 2004. The company owns and operates more than 3,000 stores in 50 states, providing rental services on furniture, electronics, appliances and computers. Each year the company gives $60,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000.
