Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships

Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships
Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships are for young, talented poets between the ages of 21 and 31. Five awards will be given to the best poetry submissions.

Poetry must consist of 10 pages of poetry. Each page may include one poem or several poems, but the total submitted must not exceed 10 pages. All work must be submitted online and include a 250-word up to one page of information about the author's work.

The purpose of the fellowship awards are to encourage more young people to study and write poetry. The national competition is sponsored by the Poetry Foundation which publishes Poetry magazine.

The fellowship awards began in 1989 by Ruth Lilly, an Indianapolis philanthropist. The fellowships started with just one and then grew to five fellowships in 2008. The amount of the fellowship awards has also increased thanks to a $1.2 million gift from the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Memorial Fund, and the fellowship is now known as the Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships for the support of aspiring young poets.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL of each year, and the award amount is usually $28,500.
