Current members of the IAM and their children throughout the United States and Canada are eligible to apply. Children can include a son, daughter, stepchild or legally adopted child of an IAM member. IAM members must have two continuous years of membership.

Applicants for the scholarship who are IAM members may attend school either part-time or full-time. Children of members must attend school full-time. The scholarship is only for first-time college students and cannot be used for graduate school.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is an AFL-CIO/CLC trade union representing 720,000 members in more than 200 industries across North America. It was formed in 1888 in Atlanta, Georgia, by 19 machinists. The organization today is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and works to protect the interests of machinists throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $4,000.
