EPP Undergraduate Scholars Program

EPP Undergraduate Scholars Program
EPP Undergraduate Scholars Program is for college students who are majoring or plan to major in atmospheric or oceanic sciences or environmental areas that support these disciplines. Students must have completed their sophomore year at a minority-serving institution.

Applicants must be full-time students and have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Eligible fields of study include oceanic, environmental, and atmospheric sciences, mathematics, engineering, remote sensing technology, physical and social sciences including, geography, physics, hydrology, or geomatics.

The scholarship combines both a scholarship and an internship. The scholarship covers two years of college tuition, and the internship includes two 10-week summer internships that include a stipend and housing. The purpose of the scholarship program is to encourage more students to pursue careers in areas aligned with the mission of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The scholarship is offered by the Educational Partnership Program (EPP), whose programs support education and training for students interested in oceanic and atmospheric related careers. EPP is the educational support arm for NOAA, the scientific agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce that is responsible for conditions of the nation's oceans and atmosphere.

The deadline for this scholarship is usually in FEBRUARY of each year, and the award amount is usually $16,000.
