The SME Education Foundation Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate or graduate students who will be enrolling as full time undergraduate or graduate students attending accredited colleges or universities in the United States or Canada. Students must be pursuing an engineering degree that is directly related to a career in manufacturing.
Applicants must have a grade point average of at least 2.0. Some SME scholarships may require a grade point average of 3.0. All applicants must be pursing an engineering or technology degree that is manufacturing-related. Candidates only need to complete one application to be considered for any one of the available SME scholarships.
Eligible students will need to register online in order to complete a scholarship application. In 2013, more than $641,500 in scholarships were awarded to 232 students across the country, with awards ranging from $1000 to $70,000.
The SME Education Foundation was founded in 1979 and partners with corporations, foundations, organizations and individual donors to provide scholarships and grants to support education leading to career opportunities in manufacturing. The organization is headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in NOVEMBER of each year, and the award amount is usually $1,000 - $2,500.
