Baker Hughes Corporate Scholars Program is for African-American college students who are currently undergraduate sophomores and juniors. Eligible students must be studying in Human Resources, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Finance, Accounting, or Business/Consumer Services.
Candidates must be full-time students at a four-year college or university and of African-American descent. A grade point average of 3.0 or above is required. Acceptable areas of student include accounting, business, chemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, finance, geoscience, human resources, information technology, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, physics, or software engineering or graduate students pursuing an MBA in electrical, industrial or manufacturing engineering or supply chain management.
The scholarship is sponsored through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Baker Hughes is one of the world's largest oilfield services companies, operating in over 90 countries. The company provides the oil and gas industry with products and services for drilling, formation evaluation, completion, production and reservoir consulting.
